Sparked by the novel Wayfarers by Norwegian writer Knut Hamsun, LONGING was clearly a project riding across different media and forms of art from its inception. In this multi-sensorial, multi-disciplinary presentation, T'ang Quartet was roped in to perform the eclectic composition of Malaysian composer Adeline Wong alongside guest solo cellist Ørnulf Lillebjerka.
Joining them on stage were Are Simonsen's sound design work, Kristin Holland's dance and Are Andreassen's live visuals which flash architecture, nature and water in a minimalist style reminiscent of the majestic but silently powerful landscapes that are the Norwegian fjords. Music, sound, vision, and dance came together in a stimulating journey from northern fjord to southern metropolis that appealed to the audience's sensibilities and expectations.
